Cypher, This Line Is Tapped

I found this peculiar data entry form at Invoice Dealers:

This is what you see in Mozilla. It took me 5 minutes, as opposed to 5 seconds, to figure out how to enter a phone number in this field. It’s quite a novel phone field layout, don’t you think?

Now, pull this up in Internet Explorer 6… Aaaah, that’s what it’s supposed to look like:

What’s the lesson of the day?

Check your site in at least Mozilla and IE.

Always put the following line into your web.config whenever you start a new web project?

tagwriter=System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter

That line would be within the browsercaps section, of course.

Well, I don't know about "always". Unfortunately, doing so ain't that easy.

Hmmm, I'd never seen that article of yours... So the only downside is the invalid validation javascript that gets generated? What a pain in the ass. I hate adaptive rendering.

I have to laugh at the novices that made that site. However, the reverse might be true of some of my sites as I might have forgot to check something in IE. :)

The lesson is that you should not force a format on the input by splitting it up into multiple input-boxes.

For the adaptive redering, you could use the DomValidators instead of Microsoft’s—that should give you valid javascript.

When I would like suggest to user the format of number I use

Hey umm this will sound pretty wiered but I would I find out if my phone line is actualy tapped... im asking this since I was googling this type of info and it brought me here! lol!
