Public Enemies: Great Story, Sucky Implementation
Posted in Apologetics
Having seen—and greatly enjoyed—The Road to Perdition and The Assassination of Jesse James, I was eagerly waiting for Public Enemies to open in movie theaters… only to be sorely disappointed.
This movie had everything going for it: a story line based on true events; a stellar cast (is Christian Bale the new Samuel Jackson and Morgan Freeman?); a great soundtrack. What ruins it is the awful camera work and terrible lighting. And I mean camera work is atrocious. As to lighting, for example, the scene at the Little Bohemia Lodge must’ve been shot with a camera phone.
I walked away loving the movie (+1 Johnny Depp), yet hating it (-1 camera crew). The other two movies of the same genre mentioned above are much, much classier.
I’d love to hear your opinions.
