While we’re on the subject of the game theory, I’d like to quote Daniel Lutzker, a lieutenant in the psychology service at Fort Dix. He concluded conducted a series of studies on cooperation and concluded with disappointment:

“’Patriotism’ and ’nationalism’ appear to be related to a lack of trust in others and an incapacity to strive for mutual benefit even under conditions where cooperation leads to greater personal gain.”

Precious!

i would go further, patriotism is to countries what racism is to skin color, i think it follows that where you see one you will probably see the other.

Well, yeah. If there is no trust then there is no cooperation that presumably relies on trust.
